The gorgeous Bodegas Forlong Blanco 2019 is made by El Puerto de Santa Maria locals Alejandro Navaerez and Rocio Aspera in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia. In 2007 Rocio’s father brought a plot of land in El Puerto desperately in need of repair. Alejandro and Rocio were up to the task of diggin’ and hoein’ and released their first wines in 2012. Merlot and Syrah and used to make the reds and Pedro Ximenez and Palomino make the whites. All of the wines are hand-harvested and the vineyards are certified organic with biodynamic methods in play. Spain is really becoming the go-to for great wines of true value, pushing the boundaries of Palomino and sold at a fair price.

Tasting note – This wine, made from 100% Palomino, is a beautifully diverse choice for the lunch or dinner table. Youthful, bright, and bouncy with fruity aromas and flavors of pineapples, honeydew melons and lemons. Lastly, there are touches of sea brine, white pepper and almond rounding out a moderately complex, thirst quench beverage. It has a delicate framework, slow curves rather than fast turns, which makes for a perfect soup and sandwich companion anytime of day.
