The Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is made by the Novak family and winemaker Aron Weinkauf in the heart of the Napa Valley. They have a 45 acre estate (37 planted to vines) in the city limits of St. Helena dating to the 1880’s, when the first vines went into the ground. The Cabernet Sauvignon that grows on the alluvial fan of the valley floor is certified organic and makes some truly extraordinary wines. It’s a must visit if you find yourself in the cutest town in America, St. Helena.

Tasting note: The 2017 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot . The core is opaque and fading to a magenta rim with lifted, ripe, youthful aromas of blackberries, cherries, plums, black pepper, thyme, cedar, vanilla, and cherry coke. A medium+ body with a medium amount of fine-grained tannins and medium acidity. Concentrated flavors of blackberries, cherries, plums, black pepper, dark chocolate, dried thyme, fennel, vanilla, and baking spices. Skilled winemaking and perfectly balanced. Lastly, the finish is long and the complexity is high with 20+ years more of development. In conclusion, this is what perfectly ripe fruit gets you.
