The Sesti Monteleccio Rosso Toscana 2017 is made by Guiseppe Sesti on his sprawling estate in Tuscany. He’s one of the few Brunello di Montalcino producers using organic and biodynamic methods in the vineyard. His daughter Elisa joined the family business in 1999 and they have continued, year after year, to make outstanding red Tuscan wines made from Sangiovese. Out of all the wine Kermit Lynch imports, Sesti is our most beloved. The Sesti Monteleccio Rosso Toscana is made from all the Sanviovese grapes that didn’t make the cut for the Brunello or the Rosso di Montalcino. However, the quality is so high across the board that it doesn’t matter that these are the “lesser” quality grapes. We find the Monteleccio to be an extremely generous wine. You may as well.

Tasting note: The 100% Sangiovese Sesti Monteleccio Rosso Toscana is not shy. Lifted aromas of strawberries, dried cherries, orange peel, potting soil, smoke, rose petal and chocolate persist. The flavors are in line with aromas, dried cherries being the dominant fruit flavor. Lastly, the acidity fetches a medium+ amount and the tannins are fine, integrated, and pull up medium. In short, the quality is outstanding; style wise, it’s like a Brunello without the spit, polish, and investment in oak and time. Which is totally fine with us. You?
