The Robert Sinskey Abraxas Vin de Terrior 2016 is made from 200 of the most beautifully positioned acres in Carneros. Conversion to organic and biodynamic practices began in the early 1990’s and the name Sinskey has remained a beacon of quality for Sonoma ever since. While the Los Carneros Pinot Noir is one of the best Sonoma reds, we’re all about the white wine Abraxas. This is a clever blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Gewurztraminer. This wine ages tremendously well. We attribute this to the acidity Riesling contributes to the blend. Not to brag, but we’ve had an opportunity to taste 10+ years old vintages of this wine and it truly improves with age. Run towards older vintages of this wine, not away, and you’ll be a happy customer.

Tasting note: The Robert Sinskey Abraxas Vin de Terrior 2016 is a blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Gewurztraminer. All fruit is sourced from the organically farmed Scintilla Sonoma Vineyard. The aromas are medium intensity and loaded with gunflint, salt, chalk, green apple, lemon, honeydew melon. The Riesling is very present in the mix, contributing to the lifted, fresh, clean aromas of brine and lemon peel. The Abraxas is dry with a medium body and alcohol, and high acidity (thanks Riesling!). Flavors of apples, lemons, and melons with bright acid, and developing into a complex wine with hints of almond and salinity. Graceful as ever, and punches WAY above its weight.
